Proportion and number of cancer cases and deaths attributable to potentially modifiable risk factors in the United States, 2019

According to a new study by the American Cancer Society, 40% of all incident cancers and 44% of all cancer deaths among US adults aged 30 and over were attributable to potentially modifiable risk factors. Cigarette smoking was the leading risk factor contributing to both cancer cases and overall deaths.
