In the wake of the US. Dept of Housing and Urban Development smoke-free rule implementation, the American Cancer Society, Smoking Cessation Leadership Center at University of California-San Francisco, and North American Quitline Consortium are working with community health centers, public housing agencies, and state quitlines (part of state health departments) in a pilot program in communities across the United States. We aim to increase the demand for cessation services among public housing residents to reduce tobacco use and improve the overall health, well-being, and equity of public housing communities and maximize the public health benefits of the smoke-free rule. This initiative is generously funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
