Gabrielle Davis is the COPD Educator and Nicotine Cessation Program Coordinator for St. Luke's Health System in Boise. She is also an adjunct professor at Boise State University. Gabrielle earned a Masters in Public Health and is currently in her final year of a second Masters in Counseling specializing in Addictions. Gabrielle has been a respiratory therapist for 11 years and has practiced in Michigan, Illinois and Idaho. Gabrielle's professional and personal advocacy centers around nicotine cessation and LGBTQIA+ inclusive physical and mental healthcare and she regularly facilitates training workshops about creating safer spaces and providing affirming care to marginalized populations.

  • Identify meaningful ways to build rapport during cessation facilitation

  • Examine biases around nicotine use in marginalized communities

  • Demonstrate brief motivational interviewing techniques associated with cessation

  • Describe the value in using respiratory therapists and behavioral health clinicians in nicotine cessation
